The Bear River is a tributary of the Feather River that flows south of Wheatland and Plumas Lake and north of Rio Oso. The river originates in Tahoe National Forest south of the Yuba River South Fork and north of the
American River North Fork. It begins south and west of
Lake Spaulding. It travels southwest and is impounded at
Rollins Reservoir,
Lake Combie, and
Camp Far West Reservoir before joining the Feather River between Rio Oso and Nicolaus.
Recreation
For over 25 years, the
Bear River Tubers have braved the river’s rapids and the parties and lived to tell about it.
