Pentecostalism is a sect of Christianity characterized by speaking in tongues. Within classical Pentecostalism there are three major orientations: Wesleyan-Holiness, Higher Life, and Oneness.

The International Pentecostal Holiness Church is a Wesleyan-Holiness denomination and includes the Word of Life Church in Marysville. Its regularly posted billboard messages indicate that it denies the occurrence of evolution.

The United Pentecostal Church International is a Oneness church and includes Truth Tabernacle in Linda and United Pentecostal Church in Yuba City. It ordains heterosexual women and heterosexual men but not people known to be lesbian or gay. It preaches that women should wear skirts or dresses that reach below the knee, rather than pants, and should not not cut their hair, while men should wear pants and cut their hair short, and neither sex should wear jewelry or makeup. It not only does not perform same-sex marriages, but opposes secular governmental recognition of same-sex marriages performed by other churches.

The Assemblies of God is influenced by both the Wesleyan-Holiness and Higher Life denominations, but not by the Oneness denomination. It is the world's largest Pentecostal Christian denomination. "The Spot" in Live Oak is a facility inside The Father's House church. It is dedicated to local youth, providing them with activites and religious education. The intent is to give the children positive entertainment and help them to set goals.
As of a 2007 estimate, 7.8% of Yuba County residents and 5.9% of Sutter County residents belonged to the Assemblies of God.
