The Queer Community in the Yuba-Sutter area often seems invisible, because it is outnumbered by the heterosexual majority and overshadowed by that majority's homophobic tendencies. But there are definitely gay, lesbian, and bisexual people in the Yuba-Sutter area.
The U.S. Census data on self-identified same-sex couples cannot be considered to represent the total number of queer people in any given area, because not all queer people are in same-sex cohabiting couples at any given time, and even many of those who are in same-sex cohabiting couples don't care to come out to a census worker. But the Yuba-Sutter communities with the highest numbers of households headed by same-sex couples, according to the 2000 U.S. Census, are Live Oak, Yuba City, Wheatland, Tierra Buena, Linda, and Loma Rica.
Queer gardeners in California often grow two beardtongue species that are native to the Yuba-Sutter area: gay beardtongue (Penstemon laetus) and mountain pride beardtongue (Penstemon newberryi). No, these species weren't named after us—we just like to grow them because we like the names.

Places to Have Fun
Verona Village Resort is a queer-friendly resort owned by the same person who owns
Faces, Sacramento's premier gay nightclub. Since the resort and the other businesses marketed expressly to the resort's customers constitute pretty much the only industry in the town of Verona, Verona can reasonably be considered to be a queer town.
Queens Avenue in Yuba City has a rather queer name.
Places to Worship
The most queer-friendly Christian churches in the Yuba-Sutter area are the Episcopal Churches in Marysville, Wheatland, and Yuba City; Faith Lutheran Church in Marysville (but not the other Lutheran churches in the area); and possibly the Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) in Marysville and Trowbridge (but not the one in Yuba City). The political leanings of Disciples of Christ congregations differ very widely, so without attending services at each church, it is impossible to guess at the political leanings of the congregations that do not have websites.
The Yuba-Sutter Church of Religious Science in Marysville is a queer-friendly church that is influenced by Christianity but also influenced by other religions and philosophies.
The Sikh Temples, Sri Narayan Hindu Temple, Bok Kai Temple, and Marysville Buddhist Church are likely to be fairly neutral, since sexual orientation is not generally considered particularly relevant to Sikh, Hindu, Taoist, or Buddhist religious beliefs.
All Wiccan Covens are queer-friendly.
The Yuba Erisian Apple-Slinging Temple not only recognizes same-sex marriages, but also declines to recognize the marriages of the opposite-sex couples who oppose same-sex marriage.
